This residence is located just outside the city of Ahmedabad. The site is surrounded with lush foliage and farmlands in the vicinity. The nature of the site led to the house being envisaged as a simple open house with a fluid relationship between inside and outside.
During the design/construction process - factors like preferences of the client, cost control considerations and climatic concerns of the architects, resulted in several layers being added to the design. These included the use of debris bricks and brick kiln debris bricks, rat-trap brick bond for all the major walls, bajri plaster, galvalium metal roof with PU foam insulation, reclaimed wood for doors & windows etc. Adaptability and a process oriented approach meant that the eventual construction transcended the design brief
and even the initial design.
